hummus…homous…whatevs…it’s easy and yummy…

I always knew that hummus was super easy to make, I have no idea why I haven’t tried to make it any sooner.  It’s proven to be a great way to munch on fresh veggies because it’s packed full of flavour without the guilt…no mayo based dips for us!

I like vegetables….but a handful of carrots is all I handle raw before I get bored of it.  Hummus to the rescue!

Make it yourself with this super easy recipe!

What you need!
1 can of chickpeas
1 tbsp of tahini
juice of half a lemon
olive oil
2 garlic cloves

What to do!

1.  Drain your chickpeas and save about 1/4 cup of the liquid

2.  Add the tahini, garlic, chickpea liquid and lemon juice.

3.  Take a hand blender and pulse the chickpeas all together until smooth.  If it is a bit dry, add some olive oil (it also makes it a little richer!) and keep pulsing.

4.  Have a quick taste…add more lemon if it’s too subtle and add salt to taste.  Enjoy it as a veggie dip or as a spread on sandwiches!

    Try it with the dried chickpeas sometime. The extra love is soooo worth it! Evidently they even sell the things pre-shelled now…which is the only part of the from scratch process that gets tedious!
