don’t judge me! instant créme brulée…

So it’s not my sister’s world famous crème brûlée with Madagascar vanilla beans cooked in a gentle bain-marie nor does it have that crackly sugar topping that only a blow torch can provide…but it’s cheaper and a hell of a lot easier.  In a pinch this imitation custardy dessert is still satisfying thanks to Dr. Oetker.

What you need!
1 box of Dr. Oetker Crème Brûlée Premium Dessert Mix
1 cup whipping cream
1 cup milk

What to do!

1.  Prepare your ingredients…this should take…5 seconds.

2.  Open the box, there are two pouches inside.

3.  Add the whipping cream and milk to a small saucepan and stir in first pouch (the larger one).  Set it on medium to medium-high heat until it starts to slightly boil.  The mixture will thicken.

4.  Pour mixture into dessert container or in my case, a glass dish.  Let it cool on the counter top until a skin forms.

5.  Sprinkle second pouch of brownish sugar evenly over the surface.  Broil in oven for 5-6 minutes until it turns golden.

6.  Take a spoon and dig in.  It’s suppose to serve 4 portions but it’s more like 2 if you can eat a normal sized dessert.  Add some fruit to fancy it up!

mix – $1.99
whipping cream – $2.50
milk – $0.50

Total: $4.99 for 4 people or $1.25/person

    Dr. Oetker stuff is definitely good stuff! Another amazingly simple but delicious dessert–Kozy Shack rice pudding, gingersnaps (soft or crunchy) and a little cinnamon, warm it up for 30 seconds in the microwave. MMMmmmm. Add amaretto for MMMmmmm+
